What are Private Organizations (POs)?
Private Organizations are self-sustaining, special interest groups set up by people acting exclusively outside the scope of any official capacity as officers, employees or agents of the federal government. They operate on Air Force installations with the written consent of the installation Commander. (AFI 34-223 Section A.1.)
What do I need to know about fundraising?
To obtain approval for fundraising activities on- or off-base, submit the official request form to your private organization monitor. All requests need to be submitted one month prior to the event taking place. Please also be aware all raffle requests must go to legal for approval prior to being routed for final approval. If your fundraising involves food handling, please contact public health office to obtain the food handler's briefing. Only established PO's are authorized to fundraise on Nellis and Creech.
Do not include rank for members of your organization, on any PO documents. AFI 34-223 para 10.1.2.3.
POs must prominently display the following disclaimer on all print and electronic media mentioning the PO’s name confirming that the PO is not part of the DoD: ―THIS IS A PRIVATE ORGANIZATION. IT IS NOT A PART OF THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE OR ANY OF ITS COMPONENTS AND IT HAS NO GOVERNMENTAL STATUS.
